Good morning, Jac here, welcome to another challenge here at Crafty Catz, but before I tell you about this weeks challenge I like to thank all of you who played along with us last week, it seems our ribbon pleating had some stumped but I'm pleased to say that all those who played along made some awesome projects and the DT ladies had a great time popping by you all. Don't forget to pop back on Saturday when our winner and Top 3 will be revealed.
Now when I think of challenges I like to see what was happening around the world around the date of the challenge and on 6 September 1852 in Manchester, England the FIRST British FREE library was opened! Wow I had no idea free libraries had been around that long! Charles Dickens spoke at the ceremony, as did poet William Makepeace Thackeray. According to Dickens there
were some 20,000 volumes in the stock, volumes that would open the minds of the
curious, educate the working men who wanted to improve their lot, or just
entertain those with no particular social agenda. In the words of Charles
Dickens, it was free to all... "Knowing no sect, no party, no distinction;
nothing but the public want and the general good."
Ok with the history lesson over, (lol) it's time for my chosen theme which is 'Bookmarks' What better way to celebrate than with a good book which of course needs a good bookmark, so lets see what you have. The DT have worked their magic and done me proud with a gorgeous selection of bookmarks and we have a great sponsor too.
Search our web site for cute and whimsical rubber stamps. We also feature background scenes in full size and miniature and we have a large selection of tea bag folding stamps. For great inspiration be sure to visit our card gallery
So now to share the wonderful DT makes with you

I have been meaning to make a bookmark for my niece, shes using a piece of paper lol. She reads every single day so she needs one badly. Perfect challenge, thanks. So much to look at, everyone did such a fabulous job, but I have to say since I am a big time owl lover, I LOVE the owl bookmark.
